Six Minutes to Renew Faith in Humanity

Years before the widespread availability of cable TV, there were dial TV sets, antennae termed "rabbit ears," and the Corporation for Public Brodcasting. TV shows like Sesame Street, Nova, and Masterpiece Theater were hallmarks on local public broadcasating channels. It would be difficult to find someone who wasn't watching at least one of those shows thirty years ago.

I'm not sure where this comes from, but, from one impatient person to (potentially) another, it is worth watching the whole clip. I promise you that if you take the time, you won't regret it.

Magnificent! I hadn't seen this before, and heard it all the way through. A Quality Post.

I won't lie, i was really really skeptical when I read the title of your post. "Six Monutes to Renew Faith in Humanity" is a tall order. But if anyone can inspire the universe to change, it's Mr Rogers!

It's true that 30 years ago, these programs were much more widely watched. Rogers makes a very eloquent statement here, doesn't he?

Ironically, hubby & I were talking about "the way TV used to be" when his son was over a week or so ago. We talked about how there were only about 13 channels, you had to get off the couch to change them & that TV actually went OFF at the end of the day. My how things have changed...

I couldn't watch the clip...something about PBS puts me instantly asleep, but I WILL say that Mr. Rogers was the shit.

I loved it when he went under his sink and came up with cool stuff to do crafts with.

That's really great. Thanks for sharing. Mr. Rogers got me through some tough issues as a kid. Thank goodness for PBS.

I am sad that I don't have 7 minutes right at the moment, but I DO have an abiding love o' PBS, so I'm going to try and return for it. Thanks.

PBS puts someone to sleep? Wow. This I can't fathom and am not interested in trying.
