British stores are working hard to push those cards these days, but a lot of the stuff grumble about it behind the scenes and know when to give up with the hard sell. We do usually get commission, but it's negligible. I hate the things, personally, and I'd *definitely* boycott Old Navy, if I were in your position.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21880954.post-75268060359108584602007-08-10T15:53:00.000-05:002007-08-10T15:53:00.000-05:00Ugh. I generally only got one or two if I was even trying very hard because I'm not into the whole talking to somebody until they give into you thing. Because they either A) give in to you when you know they don't even want the card and then you get to feel guilty for being a good salespersonor B)they get really pissy-face. Ugh. I will never work retail again, just so I don't have to deal with stupid store charge cards.courtneyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04030260426692744100noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21880954.post-3149846490305230552007-08-08T22:10:00.000-05:002007-08-08T22:10:00.000-05:00I'm SO glad you reviewed that and so well. Excellent observations.

Somewhere, someone's teaching classes on how to manage your customers in order to actually create loyalty, not send it screaming. I think they'd love to read this.

Not that you care so much about the shopping experience, but I never tire of recommending Paco Underhill's 'Why We Shop.' It's a little mis-titled. It's not really about WHY we shop, but why we buy what we buy.booda babyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09424036488795599663noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21880954.post-48561999307324645662007-08-08T13:20:00.000-05:002007-08-08T13:20:00.000-05:00Talk about pushy. If I actually meet a sales assistant who is helpful, not overbearing and just nice, I usually end up buying something from them, so you would think they would try and behave like that more often, would you not?Alliehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11125437682195078847noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21880954.post-1189919533829408772007-08-07T23:35:00.000-05:002007-08-07T23:35:00.000-05:00Hello, you've commented on my blog a few times and...Hello, you've commented on my blog a few times and I'm just curious how you found me and what exactly is a professional pilgrim?Emilyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08450259196348774351noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21880954.post-27829395772203729622007-08-07T22:14:00.000-05:002007-08-07T22:14:00.000-05:00Old Navy is the absolute worst when it comes to pu...Old Navy is the absolute worst when it comes to putting the pressure on customers to apply for a charge card. I've literally been asked to apply for their card by 5 different employees in one trip to the store. I hate it, but sadly I like their clothes, so I subject myself to their pressure tactics about once a month. And I must say, I'm shocked that they don't make commission. Those poor clerks must be threatened with their lives if they don't hound customers to apply. Very interesting.Staceyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14101697671506575832noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21880954.post-48140365606547601432007-08-07T21:06:00.000-05:002007-08-07T21:06:00.000-05:00PSyour sunsets aren't bad eitherPS
your sunsets aren't bad eitherAlicia M B Ballard StudioGaleriahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11330807567104236747noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21880954.post-68849913134684429832007-08-07T21:04:00.000-05:002007-08-07T21:04:00.000-05:00Hello MissyThank you for all your patience and vis...Hello Missy

Thank you for all your patience and visits with comments - a lot of "blogger friends" abandoned me (boo-hoo) when I became so radically busy.

-------- >*

One must always avoid these overly zealous clerks and sales people - nothing good ever comes out of it...
"What don't you understand about NO, thank you?" is a good one I have been forced to use occasionally.

The Clinique clerk must have figured you were not going to spend - she is on salary plus commission - most likely than not.
She will invest more time into "biting" fish.

Take good care
Big hugAlicia M B Ballard StudioGaleriahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11330807567104236747noreply@blogger.com
